Tour Details:
This is an opportunity to visit the Agrifood Technology Station [ATS] and the Department of Food Science & Technology [DFST] Facility at Cape Peninsula University of Technology. The ATS is a platform that provides an affordable range of inter-disciplinary technological services to small and medium Agrifood enterprises with a view to improving competitiveness, innovation and R&D capacity in a sustainable manner. ATS offers a wide range of services including developing, enhancing and maintaining safe, efficient and cost-effective food production and processing. The objective of DFST is to create and sustain an empowering environment for developing technologically skilled and socially responsive graduates, using innovative teaching, research and a work integrated learning approach; fostering active partnerships with industry and community in order to be a centre of excellence for the training of Food Technologists.
On arrival, the party will be split into 2 groups.
The first group will do a tour of the ATS facilities, including the pilot brewery where the malting and brewing of sorghum will be demonstrated.
The second group will attend a short talk.
Once each tour is complete, the groups will then change and have the opportunity to have the full experience.
